Oh, ouch…..

Well the Stampin’ Up! Retired List is out.  Now, I don’t have a lot of sets (compared to some of my friends), but when I got a text from Janice saying that she lost over 60 sets, I knew the list was going to be UGLY.  I was right.  I own 41 “current” stamp sets.  I’m not counting the two Hostess sets I have, because I KNEW those would retire.  Two of those are from the Occasions mini which runs thru April 30.  Those may or may not appear in the new catalog.  I think one of them will.  That leaves 39 sets.  Of those, 27 are retiring.  Only 2 of the remaining 12 sets are the “old” wood mount.  Here is a picture of the “carnage”.  The sets with yellow tabs are retiring.  Ouch…….

Here is a link to the retiring products in the online store.

I’m losing a couple of sets that I use a LOT – Sincere Salutations and Upsy Daisy.  There are several sets I am sorry to see go, but they’ve been around for a long time – Crazy for Cupcakes, Baroque Motifs, Season of Joy, Serene Snowflakes and Fifth Avenue Floral.  I’m also going to miss Triple Treat Flower, Dasher and Christmas Postcard from the A La Carte section of the catalog (ALL of those single stamps retired!  EVERY. ONE.).  We will find out on the 25th what accessories will retire.  Obviously, all the Stampin’ Around wheels that go with stamp sets that retired will go.  We know that the 2010-2012 In Colors (and all of the papers and embellishments containing those colors) will go.  A lot of the Designer Series Papers (sometimes ALL of them) go.  I’m betting we start to see some of the Big Shot embossing folders retire (like the rose that goes with Fifth Avenue Floral).  And then, May 1, we should have the new catalog preview.  We can order our new catalogs on May 8th.  It goes live on June 1st.  Since I’m not going to Convention this year (sniff!), I will probably place a nice order on the 1st of June to console myself.  LOL

Well, so much for blogging once a month, huh?

But I blogged twice in February, so that covered March, right?  LOL
I was gone to Disneyland for 4 days at the end of February.  It was incredibly fun, as always.  This was my annual “Diva trip” with the DIS Board Divas.  There were about 50 of us that attended at least some part of the trip.  We had our Meet & Greet party on Thursday night and our Scavenger Hunt on Saturday.  Each day there were meet ups for meals and group photos.  Our two big group photos were on Friday and Saturday at the Princess Fantasy Faire and in front of the castle.  I don’t have pictures to share because I don’t have the PhotoPass disk yet.  Once I get that, I’ll have some good ones.  One of the highlights for me on this trip was to finally get my picture taken with Dug (the dog from the movie Up).  I have tried on three previous trips to get a photo with Dug and each time he was either not out that day or I had just missed him.  Here’s one of the photos of me with Dug

I made some little treat boxes as thank you’s for the Divas that worked on the committees to help put this trip together.  We have a committee that works on the Meet & Greet, one that works on the scavenger hunt, Melody, who does our group T shirt, Jill who gets us into Company D (the employee store) and Beth, who keeps our thread on the DIS Board updated with all the details.  These are made using the Big Shot Matchbox die.  They hold four Hershey Nuggets.  The Mickey head is punched out of green glittered paper.  The punch is from EK Success.  The oval is embossed onto the box lid with a Big Shot embossing folder.  They were quick to make and pretty cute.

I also made some beaded lanyards for myself and the other 3 gals on my Scavenger Hunt team, The Meandering Mousers.  I didn’t take photos of those, unfortunately.  The lanyards were simple and made with red, white and black beads.  I also made a sign for our hotel room door.  Unfortunately, most of the gals stayed over at the Grand Californian in the Villas this year, so nobody saw our door sign.  In 2011, we had 5 or 6 rooms all in a row and each room had a door sign and it was really cute and fun to see.  Hopefully more gals will stay at the Carousel next year.
I also made birthday cards to send out in 2012.  Not posting a picture of those for obvious reasons!  Other than that, I haven’t spent a ton of time in the craft room.  I’m looking forward to seeing the Stampin’ Up! retired list when it comes out Sunday.  Although I am not able to attend Convention this year, I will still be making swaps and sending them along with Janice to be swapped in Salt Lake City.  This will be the first time I’ve ever missed going to Convention.  *sniff*
Hopefully I’ll have something interesting to blog soon.  If the weather ever gets “normal”, I can start getting things done in my garden!
